So, when I saw this today under my kitchen window I had a dilema: should I let the spider (tiny thing to the left of the ladybug) finish spinning its web around the ladybug and save it for later like the disgusting spider in Lord of the Rings, or do I save the ladybug's life and wonder how it got inside my kitchen.
I decided I couldn't watch the slow death so I scooped them both up on a butter knife and washed them down the kitchen sink. I guess, as someone at the top of the food chain, I intervened. I hope this doesn't bring on a ladybug infestation.

Haha, that is so cute. BUT, I would have done the same thing. I hate spiders! :)
While I too appreciate a good life's lesson and nature, yada yada, I have NO problem interfering--yea, even explaining to Cubby that I kill scorpions because they don't belong in my house. There you have it. I do have some questions, however, concerning their creation and the measure of their creation and finding joy in their posterity and all...can't think TOO much about it though.
p.s. Cubby and I love to watch the Planet Earth dvds, especially the amazing footage of the shark jumping out of the water to eat the seal, etc. I think if he's going to grow up being scared of bugs (bc I can't put on a brave face) he'll have to be a man about the circle of life. Good balance, right? Am I blogging or commenting?
Down the sink is good...ladybugs don't live that long anyway.
I always think about the comment that Joseph Smith made about if we truly understood the sacred nature of creation we would shiver to even hurt a fly...I usually think about it when I'm stomping a spider to death or flushing some unsavory creature down the toliet or using the garbage disposal to kill critters...I have lots of questions for the other side. Until then, I need critters to stay on THEIR side of the circle.
