I think the boys have Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. Eeew.
They've had high fevers, Michael's hit this morning, and now Sam has a sore in his mouth and a tiny red polka dot rash. We've had Sam in bed with us the last 2 nights and I am just hoping they'll both be better by Sunday so I can take them to church with me. Josh will be out of town and I have primary class that is just getting under control that I don't want to miss.
So, while we've been house bound because the boys are sleeping on and off, never at the same time, mind you, we've been doing some fun projects. This is Michael wearing his new penne collana, or pasta necklace with soda straws! He's working on his first collage with pictures cut out of the Friend magazine. It's the first time he's used a glue stick. Doesn't he look excited?

Earlier, Sam converted the kitchen table into a train depot. Unfortunately, he could only reach half of the track so Mommy had to constantly stop cleaning up breakfast in order to move the train around the track, back into his reach. He is feeling better today, over his fever, but now the rash is here. He's struggled at night and could only fall asleep with me holding both of his hands. We never let them sleep with us so it's actually been kind of fun.Any more ideas for crafts for toddlers to help me pass the time tomorrow?

I have an idea...how about you just take a gizillion more pictures of your boys because they are so adorable that I could look at them all day. I am so sorry that they are sick. Double the trouble for you. I hope everyone is well soon! I say make homemade playdough and then end up baking it and maybe painting it. Too messy? Or make puppets out of paper sacks. or a scavenger hunt, my kids love those. A scavenger hunt or a treasure hunt...or both!

You are such a good mom. How about we just come play? Ok well it may not work out--too cold for the park? Friday is the day I like to go on a mom-date with the kids. Tomorrow (after boring chores) we are going to get ice cream because I found a coupon and because I like ice cream (and being with my kids:)
p.s. I'm sorry they are so sick. I just realized my ideas were really bad ones for sickies. How about a picnic in front of a movie? That sounds like a good sick day to me--if you can call it good with your poor little ones hurting (and/or itching?)

We love to make "books" with a theme. We fold paper together and either cut pictures out from magazines or just draw them. Then I have the kids dictate words or sentences to me and I write them on the pages. We give the books a title, put their names on the front as the "author and illustrator" and then put them in their book baskets in their rooms. Then they have a whole collection of books they can "read" themselves! I promise those books will be their favorites! (We've made family books, jungle books, farm animals, zoo animals, princesses, ABC books...endless possibilities!)
You're a good momma, you are. You'd think I would get out the crafts more often with my own kids... being an ex-art-teacher and all. But I can't stand the mess!
I sure hope they're feeling better by now. Poor Michael looks so pathetic! Nothing worse than sick kids. My boys like to put a box of dry noodles in a bowl or whatever and use dump trucks. it's great fun until they get spilled all over the floor...but then the scooper truck gets to scoop them all up :)
